Taking on Water

Oh goodness. The rain started late late last night and apparently so did this leak!! The couch is soaked, and we now have a lovely water ring on the ceiling and a steady double drip coming out of the light hole! With the drip drip mixed with Cort's head shaking that began this morning (probably an ear infection) I'm going to go crazy before the day is over!! Whelp, time to do some cleaning and then figure out what to do about the apparent hole in our roof and then I have an airport greet later this afternoon! It's going to be a long weekend!

Diva Dogger

So I couldn't find Cort this afternoon. I figured he was somewhere scratching and nibbling (his allergies are bad again) but after checking around the house twice looking in his "usual" places, I didn't see him. On my third loop, this is what I found.

Yep, apparently there was just too much light for a good nap! Socks and all, Cort is curled up on the floor with his eyes all covered up. Sleeping under the bed isn't unusual for him - it's probably one of his favorite places to doze off, but he typically does it at night when we have the light on and he's ready for bed - not in the middle of the afternoon. Silly dogger!

Slumber Stop!

This is Shelby - she's 5! No worries, she's just stopping by to spend the night! Her forever family is coming to pick her up and sign the adoption papers tomorrow. How did this happen you ask?? Well, a couple of people asked how Beau was doing so I e-mailed the rescue to find out and I guess the price of getting information is having to do favors! So, Shelby arrived at 8:00ish and is nervous, shy, somewhat afraid of me and tired so I let her lounge on the couch to get her to stop whining at the door. Funny thing is when Kyle came home she brightened right up. Looks like she has a little crush!! Oh well, hopefully she's tired enough that she'll sleep well tonight!

'Tis the candy corn season. I don't know why I buy it every year and then complain about eating so much of it!!!

Order Up!

There was no wasting time this morning! Cort and I were up and at 'em and went out for an awesome 7 miler in pretty much perfect conditions. Then we came back ready to eat! Marty and Kristin had 11:55 flights out so we got to work whipping up some buttermilk pancakes and cinnamon rolls! It was a yummy send off breakfast before dropping them off at the airport. I wish the weekend could have lasted longer!!! Thanks for coming guys!!

Gently Down the Stream...

So today was the busier/active day of Marty and Kristin's quick trip to our neck of the woods. We started off with a nice canoe trip on the Wakiva. We've done this with a few different groups of guests and Kyle and I always enjoy it and I think Marty and Kristin had fun too. No gators today, but lots of turtles and birds - not to mention it was GORGEOUS! The hot weather broke for the weekend and it's been PERFECT! After our river rowing we went to the OSU B-dubs for the Bucks game...'nuff said, then to ease our pain we once again visited Jeremiah's! Haha! Back to back!! And now, with sides picked, its time to settle in and watch the Nebraska/Wisconsin game!! We don't have much time together tomorrow due to early flights...we'll have to make it count!!
