Tulle-ing Around!

Having finished the last of this round of exams this morning, all I wanted to do this afternoon was avoid cleaning the kitchen and CRAFT! So, I took a couple orders and headed off to Joann's to gather supplies for a fun little St. Paddy's Day project! While I'm not sure if we're headed North for that weekend yet, I still wanted to make a couple of these little beauties...and I'll tell you what...whether it's the Fiddler's Green St. Paddy's Day 5K down here in a couple weeks or the Shamrock Shuffle in Ohio on Saturday the 17th...running in one of these is going to be tu-tu fun!!! :o) Happy Hump day everyone...the week is starting to wind down - hang in there!!

Pączki Perfection!

Nothing takes the sting out of an early morning exam like pączki!! That's right, it's Pączki Day again! This year rather than trying to track them down I took matters into my own kitchen! I found a recipe and set to work making these donut like little confections! While yeast tried to spoil my plans yet again, a trip to the grocery store was all it took to come out of the battle victorious!! 3 risings and a dip in a hot tub full of oil later and poof - pączki! Sure we have more than we need, but from what I understand they freeze well! Tomorrow is the beginning of my junk food hiatus...no gummies, no Jeremiah's and no birthday cake! On that note, maybe I'll go have another pączki! How did you celebrate your Fat Tuesday/Pączki Day??

Baguette for Breakfast

On my way to class today I noticed a baguette on a bike handle...it made me laugh and then raised a few questions: 1) Who walks around campus with a loaf of french/italian bread? 2) What college kid WASTES a perfectly good loaf of french/italian bread!? There really wasn't a question as to why a handlebar...honestly I thought that was pretty fantastic! So, THEN, on my way back to the garage from class I saw this little guy taking full advantage of the snack that was oh so kindly left for him! Two laughs out of the same silly thing! Can't complain about that first thing on a Monday morning!

Cooking for a Crowd

Well, not really... Anyway, KYLE'S HOME!!! Before he got here I cooked some dinner and had an audience "patiently" watching from the living room (waiting for food to fly their way). So, now things are back to normal, just in time for a new week! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

What Everyone Else is Doing!

Sooo...I've decided that I need to carpe a few more diems. Kyle is in Ohio at Ken's super successful surprise 60th birthday party, living it up with much of the Myers klan (and then some) and the Majewski kids are in Athens, surely causing trouble and keeping it Keaton with cousins Abbey & Maradeth. Aaaand, I stayed here in Florida. With the dogs. To study anatomy.

While I have done some studying and I did do all that cooking yesterday, and I've been keeping the doggers company and even run a couple times, I haven't done enough to warrant missing all the fun and seeing/spending time with family, which makes me sad. Infact, there's a chance I would have studied more in Ohio...slim, but still a chance! Anyway, now that I've done this a couple times I am officially declaring that from this point on, I'm going to accept that a) no matter how much I study anatomy I'm still not going to do well on the test (that's the professor's goal anyway) and b) it makes no sense to skip big family events that matter for things that in the long run really won't that much. Re-prioritize! With that said, I hope everyone had a fun weekend so far!!! I miss you all!!! For the few of you who aren't pictured, have you done anything fun or noteworthy this weekend, or were you boring like me??

Hot Friday Night!

I've become intrigued by this whole bulk freezer cooking thing that I've seen on Pinterest and I've finally gotten fed up with eating crap because "we're busy" so, since Kyle is away and it's Friday night, I decided to get a little crazy! I headed to the store to shop for...well, stuff to make food that will last as long as it lasts. Seeing as how it's the "viva Italian" sale this week, my experiment is beginning primarily with Italian food (sorry mom!). So upon my return home from the store I opened up my new red crock pot (it seems to be a necessary tool for this food plan) and in went the pork butt for pulled pork, then I started the meatballs & homemade smooth red sauce for meatball subs & spaghetti. Then I made some meat sauce and whipped up 3 mini lasagnas "from scratch". After finishing everything (but the pork...it's still cooking) I split it and packaged it all up in little bowls and serving dishes to store in the freezer. So...the experiment begins! We'll see how my freezing food plan works out over the next few weeks to a month! I'm guessing I'll never want to eat italian again!

In other news - it's been a pretty boring week for my 4 legged fur-friends. You know, due to all my studying and overall laziness! As usual, they did manage to find some fleas - 'tis the season! I think I have that under control, but I now leave you with this super cute picture of them...they really are brothers!

What Studying Looks Like

Another Anatomy exam on tap for tomorrow morning and I've been studying a lot! THIS is what happens when I study. Spot for my butt...books, notes, notebooks, binders and drawings galore! You know that feeling when you've crammed as much information as you think you can into your brain, but you just know it isn't enough or have a hunch it's all the wrong information...that's me right now. Here's hoping I fair better tomorrow than I did last time!
