4:30

These two have a daily date. Yep, popcorn snack time is a thing in our house. Every day around 4:30 (sometimes a little earlier, by request) the popcorn gets popped, water is served, and we all head to a couch to sit, catch up on the day and share a big bowl of popcorn. It's probably my favorite part of each day and I know Cort loves it, that just leaves Nora, and seeing as how for her, clothing is optional and she frequently requests popcorn for breakfast these days, I'm pretty sure she's a fan!

Good Start

With a hot day on tap today and plans for an afternoon bike ride, Kyle and I took advantage of the cool morning air and got our runs out of the way early (early for us anyway). I loaded up Nora and got Cort all hooked up and off we went. Kyle took off at the same time (only went significantly longer and farther than we did) and we met back at home to get our day underway. Some lawn mowing, an afternoon bike ride to an open house, a backyard dinner later and this Sunday is in the books! Unfortunately we begin the week with a house that is still mainly a mess...status quo here. Who wants to come visit so we have motivation to clean all the way??

Two Wheelin' for Treats!

We went on a little adventure this evening. Even though it was a little late to be out and about, Nora got a bedtime extension so we could go for a ride to Jeremiah's for some gelatis. YUM! It was a gorgeous night for a bike ride and to sit outside and enjoy some ice cream. The ride back was a little darker than we would have liked but the trip was a success and a great way to top off our Saturday.

Swings and Things

Whelp, she did it. A few little wake-ups, (one early evening escape that was really creepy) but baby girl spent her first night out of the crib. Sure we found her laying on the floor next to her cushion this morning but she did it and seems no worse for the wear! After she got up this morning, we got ready and headed to a play date. My friend Mardi, from APH, has been watching her grandson this week and asked us to come over so Luke and Nora could meet and play. The kiddos took to the playground where they did a lot of swinging and leaf moving and then had lunch together. Nora was all about the big kid swing (despite a pretty awesome, lesson, learned kind of spill) Before we headed home we stopped to see Shalese and her new baby Daniel. Busy morning and early afternoon followed by a whiney, nap-striking rest of the day. Good times!

Little Big Girl

Look at this!!! I don't know if I'm happy or sad! At daycare they take naps on mats and by all accounts, Nora did well with it. We've been talking about our next step since the crib is getting cozier the bigger she gets. So after a busy morning, including a run, story time at the library and a trip to the grocery store, today at nap time I decided to put a sheet on the Diva Chair cushion and give it a shot. What do you know...our baby girl conked out! So, now that this has been successful we need to come up with a game plan...do we dare try it at night?! Yipes!

Sharing His 31st Year!

Let's all take a moment to examine this photo. Kyle, happily obliging and holding up his birthday sign while sporting a stellar party hat, Nora giggling away with her hand on her mouth, and Cort...oh Cortland, with his one track mind praying to Dog that the slice of Lemoncello Cream Torte careens off the table, becoming fair game. Happy Birthday, Kyle!! Thanks for sharing it with us!

The Down Side

To multitasking. I doubt this is a case of lesson learned, because lets face it...even as adults we've all been there. Perhaps more metaphorically than this but you know, talking to yourself while walking along a ledge and carrying a bin half your size full of random stuff...next thing you know you're smack on your back with everything spilled out on the ground around you. You can all thank me (more like Nora) for this friendly reminder and little life lesson. Maybe I should start a series of "Things My Toddler Taught Me".
