On the Road Again

Kyle's been on the move this week checking out garages and working on projects. And, while he's been out and about he's had the camera with him. So here's a peek at what he's been checking out. This is the second time he visited this garage in Brandon, FL and apparently all of these wires are a worthwhile piece of a VERY large parking garage puzzle...I believe it has something to do with elevators.

Because We Can

Kyle had a meeting in Naples today so Nora and I kept him company on the drive South and spent the day visiting with Grandma & Jerry in Port Charlotte! Nora had a fabulous time being spoiled by her great grandparents and I'm sure they'll be sore tomorrow from all the lifting and playing. She kept them both very busy - because that's what she does! It was a great day! Kyle had a good meeting and I'm glad we have the flexibility to be able to tag along on a midweek adventure here and there! Oh, and Cort stayed home for 12 whole hours by himself - out of his kennel - and the only casualty was a single paper towel. Phew!

Chalk and Walk

Lovely day for chalking today! Of course the chalking in the driveway turned to walking in the driveway, then down the sidewalk then wanting to cross the street alone which turned into a fit which lead to nap time! Never a dull moment!

Bunny Trail!

Happy Easter!!
We had a fun and relaxing day today!  We started out with sunrise service (we made it!) then we came home to find...

Whoops!  We forgot to lock Cort's crate door and he repaid the favor of his hour of freedom by eating all the Easter candy, chowing down on Nora's fruit snacks and noshing on some nut roll.  It may have been fun for a bit but the enjoyment didn't last long!
Luckily Nora's basket wasn't made up of much candy and remained intact and in it's hiding place.
Church, dog trouble, breakfast, easter basket hunt, nap, easter egg hunt/dirt digging, candy eating, dinner, family run.  All and all, a great Easter (perhaps a bit cloudy but overall nice) with our spunky little monkey!

Victory!!

Alright!! Two years in a row!!! I was feeling ambitious this year so I added nut roll to my list of challenges. As you can see, the bread turned out pretty well, the nut roll turned out HUGE but everything tasted good, so that's all that really matters! I'll chalk this up as a win with some room for continued improvement. After all the bread making was complete we dyed eggs tonight (and one of us dyed her hands too). Fantastic Friday!

Later Gator!

Despite the threat of rain (that never really came) we hit the trail this morning. The hike wasn't the only thing that had our heart rates up though. First we spotted this "little" fella lounging on the river bank, then as we continued on down the trail we spotted something that looked like mud and floating leaves in the water...but we were suspicious and as it turns out, we were right to be! It was a HUGE, HUGE like 14 foot long 3-4 foot wide gator chillin' in the water a little ways ahead. Thank goodness Cort didn't catch the scent and he and Maya listened well when we called them back in the other direction. I'm pretty sure an encounter with that guy would have been the end of Cortland! All and all another good hike that would have been better if Cort didn't bring home so many 6 legged, blood sucking stowaways...but that's a whole 'nother story! We weren't the only ones on the move today, Kyle took to the streets of Orlando tonight as part of the Crummer School of Business' Corporate 5k team. It's always been one of my favorite 5k events so I'm a little sad that I wasn't on a team this year, but, bedtime comes first!!

Zen

Yesterday's dark skies and monsoon rains gave way to a GORGEOUS morning!!! Cort, Nora and I went out for an early jog and between the breeze, the cool 58° temperatures and the happy sunshine our intended 3 mile outing turned into an easy 5 miles. In the interest of taking things in and enjoying the moment, I stopped to take a couple pictures at a lake that's about a mile and a half in. After about 2 minutes Nora made it clear that stops weren't in the cards and pictures weren't the priority...it was time to get moving again! It was the perfect way to start what has been a great day, full of progress and time spent outside.
