Perhaps I Was Mistaken!

With the SportWagen (the e makes it cooler) tire still out of commission I told Kyle he could take the Asleighdia to work (and all his meetings) today. I also informed him that "it even has a full tank of gas!" Apparently I was not correct in thinking that...whoops! Does dyslexia cover Empty vs. Full scenarios? Sorry love!!

Q&A and Play

Photo Credit: Someone who isn't me
This is the picture I wanted to take today, but I didn't want to be weird while on my interview, so I didn't - but I found it on Google, so thank you person who was less afraid of being weird and/or didn't have anyone to impress. With that said, today was my Child Life internship interview at Florida Hospital for Children. Yep, after all this time I'm still on my trek towards Child Life certification and gearing up to potentially be a student - again! As old as it made me feel to shadow so many young staff today, it was really nice to be back with all the kiddos and to be reminded of how much I enjoy it! But it was a tiring day, too! I'm pretty sure that most of you would agree I'm a social person, but I also like my quiet, at home time. In the fields I've chosen I'm very much required to be "on" the whole time I'm at work. "On" meaning observant, empathetic, intuitive, focused & present in each moment with each person, cheerful, silly, quick moving, chatty, energetic, excited and maybe the best way to describe it, is that I have be "the happy" so, happy and then some, to make up for the happy that my patients struggle to be because they're stuck in a hospital and feel like crap. In short - using play & playing (or convincing patients to play) takes a lot more work than you'd think! Add to that the general stress of an interview and meeting & interacting with an entire staff, it takes a lot of energy! Despite being a bit tired, I was so excited to come home and hear about Nora's day of adventures with Jessica (who was kind enough to stay with her aaalll day!) Jessica is the best!! They made a fort, played in the dirt and the pool, went for a walk and had a dance party! After all of that, Nora was just as ready as I was for a nap when I got home. (Jessica probably was too!) I find out Tuesday if they think I'm a good fit and from there we'll see how mixed up and crazy we can make things this fall!

Not So Fast!

Kyle had a slight delay in getting home tonight BUT he kept his composure and remembered to take a blog picture!! Haha! Just kidding, he did snap a picture but he also got the tire changed and hustled home to do some playing with Nora before bed.

Follow Me

I have a feeling I'm going to love this picture for a very long time.

Study Buddy

I've been dusting up on my Child Life background to prepare for my all day interview on Thursday and Nora was by my side this afternoon letting me know what information she felt was most important. Starting from scratch - not so great (running, learning, blah!) but at least I have company while I learn now!

Life Lessons

Dance like no one is watching. You hear it all the time, but Nora's life lesson for today...if you hear your jam, dance it out. Who cares where you are or what you're wearing!

Joy for June!

It was a rainy June opener today but no one was more happy about it than Nora! We're hard pressed to keep her inside during a warm rain. I love teaching Nora to take time to celebrate the simple joy of simple things and love that she returns the favor! In addition to our rain revery we also checked out a house for sale in the neighborhood just for fun. Nora was fondest of the puddles in the driveway and the low bay window in the living room complete with a stage (window seat) PERFECT for climbing. Happy June everyone!!!!
