Nineteen and Counting!

She's sooo big! Pardon the lack luster shirt numbering - time and lack of photoshop combined. Anywho! We've had a language burst in the last month with tons of new words and lots of attempts at even more. Nora has been testing her skills at climbing, balancing and running. In fact, she's become a huge fan of running away giggling in hopes that we'll chase her whenever we're trying to accomplish something - especially when we're in a hurry! She's doing great in daycare while I'm at the hospital and Kyle's at work and she's even been adjusting to her new house and seems to really like her soon-to-be new bedroom at the new house. Hopefully she isn't getting too attached to the stellar wallpaper that we're in the process of removing. Our kiddo is getting bigger, stronger, more independent and silly by the day and we're loving it!!

Down to Business

After an afternoon & evening spent at the house, we made some progress today. Strip by strip, wall by wall, we're on a wallpaper removal mission...in 4 different spaces simultaneously. I want paint on the walls! Nora refused to nap there, but hopefully that'll resolve itself as we spend more time. Oh, and Kyle demoed one of the walls in Nora's room that needs to be re-drywalled (not before we snapped a couple pictures of a message from the past that was unearthed!) Fun stuff! Back to the hospital tomorrow morning! It's going to be interesting to see how we manage my studenting, Kyle's work, Nora, Cort and two houses.

Turn the Key

The big moment! Well for me anyway - my first time attempting to figure out how to unlock and open up the door to the house, with Nora & Cort in tow. After some coaching from Kyle, we finally got inside and

celebrated with a little champagne/sparkling grape juice toast! Jessica & Maya joined the fun too. There's lots of work to be done over the next month before we plan to move in but today was about relishing in the fact that it's ours to borrow from the bank and peeling some wallpaper.

Closed

So...we closed on our first house this morning! Yay! I've been alluding to things getting even more interesting around here and, well, let the more interesting begin. For those out of the loop, we've been working on all of this for a while and today it finally all came together, papers signed, keys handed over and then...I went to the hospital to work for free from 12pm-10:30pm. WHAT?! Yeah, not much of a celebration, but Kyle, Cort and Nora spent some time at the new-to-us-house so that counts for something! We love to do everything at once, so, here we go! Oh, and if you having a craving to remove wallpaper...COME ON DOWN! There's plenty to go around! If you're interested in seeing pictures of our fixer-upper take a peek!

Love Lock

It might look a lot like a head lock of sorts but it's just love. Lots of love. This week is nuts. Nora was up again at 3am sick...not as bad as Sunday morning but is 3am ever pretty?? Anyway, after juggling schedules and splitting time for the past two days, I'm off today so there were no worries in keeping her home from daycare. Here's hoping tomorrow she's back to normal! Life is full of wildcards!

Puke & Paint

Today felt a lot like our official initiation into parenthood! This was the scene at 3am - Nora's bed stripped after she got sick all over, soon after, our bed stripped (rookie mistake!) and the rest of the night spent cleaning up after a sleepy, sick little munchkin who couldn't keep anything down. Our trip to the aquarium has been tabled because Nora's nausea kept up until late afternoon, when finally she was able to keep fluids in. Other than an inability to consume anything she was her normal self, with a little added anger because her horrible parents wouldn't let her chug water - she was soo thirsty and didn't want anything other than something to drink...not Jello, not popsicles, not crackers. Oye! Anyway...since we didn't go to Tampa to see the fishes today I was able to complete the guest room door painting (FINALLY), touch up a few other areas in need of some TLC with a paint brush AND continue my blue project that I started yesterday in between real and false Nora alarms. Hopefully I'll get the blue project finished sometime this week - no promises, things are already off to a bumpy start. For now, I just wait. I don't think there's anyway I'm side stepping this one after the number of kisses, coughs and fingers in my face/mouth that took place in the last 18 hours.

Feeling a Little Blue

I narrowed, Nora picked and at this point I am waaay less than sold on this bright blue. We'll have to see how a second coat turns out. One thing is for sure, I'll never like it as much as I like the color it's replacing. I'll reveal soon...unless I turn back in which case there won't be anything to reveal! Today also included a little yard work, some door painting and a lot of relaxing. Tomorrow is the long awaited aquarium day with Nora, I can't wait! And bonus, we're meeting up with Reba & Jerry! Woohoo!
