GAME DAY!

With a morning spent divided and conquering we were set with a tasty spread to watch the game this afternoon! There were moments where confidence may have waned a little but the Bucks pulled it out! Woohoo!! After the game we did a little shopping, topped it off with some Jeremiah's (YUM!) and got started on some Christmas balls. Those should be an adventure...BUT, with Thanksgiving come and gone and holiday prep officially underway, I think it calls for a La!

It's feeling a little more like a holiday around here today!! Sure, I had to work again, but it was really only a half day. Then it was home to pop the turkey in the oven and try to piece the house together...loosely, let's not give ourselves too much credit. Before Tim & Meg arrived, Aunt Wendy and Uncle Bob stopped by for a bit on their way through town as they make their journey from Miami back to Galveston, TX. It was awesome to see them and I'm so happy they stopped!! Then right on schedule our weekend visitors arrived! Dinner was all pretty much ready on time - rolls - it's in the same category as bread...they get me every time! The food was all tasty (if I do say so myself) and the company was lovely! We even had a fire - although it took more than a little encouragement to get started. Full bellies all around - I'd say it was a very successful Thanksgiving-a-day-late. One more sleep until the big game!!!

Tomorrow's Thanksgiving

What a weird Thanksgiving! Doesn't make me any less thankful, but it was a little atypical to say the least! Haha! For starters I had to work today - this was my first time working a holiday and it was kind of strange and made me miss all my kiddos at the children's hospital! Secondly, Tim & Meg are coming tomorrow so we're having Thanksgiving with them when they arrive. With all that going on...today hasn't really been our Thanksgiving. It was chicken finger wraps for dinner and a lot of food prep so I can throw things in the oven when I get home from work tomorrow. Fun thing is, Kyle got to spend the day today with Nora and gets to play with her tomorrow too! I hope you all have full tummies and had a safe and happy Thanksgiving. I know we have a whole lot to be thankful for!

Out With the Old!

Two lovely gentlemen from Habitat came today and picked up some of our old furniture and the washer & dryer that came with the house. It felt good to say goodbye to the entertainment center & bookshelves that originally lived in my parents' basement then my college house and then made the journey to Florida where they've been working hard for the last 8 years. Those pieces had lived their useful lives with us and it was time to say goodbye. With all those things out of the "game room" it's amazing how much room there is for activities now!! Thanksgiving Eve!!

Flood...

I was feeling so accomplished this morning! I had showered, had some towels in the laundry...was on a roll!!!! Then...this is the culprit...well maybe I'm the culprit, but this isn't the first time this pipe has resulted in a flood. Only problem is that today's flood was pretty monumental. Turns out that towels hold a lot of water so when they spin and drain there's plenty to go around...and by around I mean water was flowing out of the front door!! Here's hoping the 2 or so inches of standing water that resulted in the "game room" didn't ruin the furniture slated for pick up by Habitat for Humanity tomorrow. Thank heavens for the shop vac, Sesame Street and beach towels! Oye! Gotta love how nothing ever goes as planned! Good news, I got it all cleaned up!!!

Helper

Nora has been quite the helper around here, always up for lending a hand. Kyle found the perfect job for her to help with tonight!! Today we did a lot of playing outside and I did some door painting. We're working our way towards getting the kitchen put together...we shall see what the rest of the week has in store - the countdown is on!

A Little Bit of Twinkle!!

So, we had intended to have a little early holiday night out last night but we couldn't get our act together in time so we gave it another go tonight! We went to the mall, out to dinner and topped it all off at Home Depot. Nora was sooo good! (Aside from some squealing at the restaurant and some running away at Home Depot) She loved seeing the lights and all the sparkles in the store windows - asking for "more lights" AND no accidents the whole time!! It might be a little early to swing into Christmas but with weekends dwindling it was a fun evening out! And dare I say...this appears to be the official kick off - gimme a...
