Kyle had a work meeting in Naples today so after an early morning drive south, he finished up there and headed to Sarasota to meet up with his (our) friend Nich, who is down coaching spring training with Columbia's lightweight crew team. Kyle made it for practice and had dinner with the coaching staff then headed home. It was a long day for him and he was ready for some sleep when he got home!

Play at Work
Little guy worked hard today! Sitting up story time, his best round of tummy time ever (I think he's starting to come around to it, fingers crossed) and we even had a little competition to see who could hold out longer. Me doing a plank or him sitting up against the couch with no side supports - for those keeping score after about 6 rounds we came out about even.

N-nitial
Yay for finishing fun projects!!! Since I don't have a jigsaw, I asked my dad to cut out a big N for me to upholster and put over Nora's bed. He delivered on his end and we brought home a big, super thick cardboard N after Christmas, it's been staring at me since. I put some batting on it and had my plan in place but today I managed to actually knock it out. I pieced together all the fabrics from her 1st year monthly pictures, mixed in some of the fabric that inspired her room color choices and stapled it all together. The finished product was up at bedtime! I love it, and Nora claims to, sooo I'm happy!

Checkin' Up!!
Guess who had his 2 month well check today!? Weighing in at a stout 14lbs 1oz (90%) and 23.25in (70%) as expected, our guy is a grower! He got 3 pokes and an oral vaccine and did really well, crying just a bit but recovering really quickly. This nurse didn't seem to think I was as crazy as the one who handled all of Nora's pokes. He's been a little sleepy this afternoon but overall handling it like a champ! In other news, Nora's obsession with my sparkly shoes (like 3 or 4 inch heels!) has gone to a whole new level...I'm sure there will be a day very soon that I'll be posting pictures - she wears them EVERY DAY! Aaand, today is Kyle and my 14 year anniversary. It's the day we started dating and I like to highlight because, well, we should get credit for all of our years together!!

No Naps!
I'll spare you all the video. Yikes, today was a tough one. Nora and her nap wars! I would be willing to try to wean off the naps (sadly) but she's not ready for that quite yet, instead, with no nap she goes off the deep end at about 4:30 or 5:00pm. We're still recovering from the holidays and she's kind of at a sleep transition age anyway, so we have some tinkering to do! Today was one of those days where she swore up and down that she didn't need a nap. This was communicated by exhibiting all the signs of someone who clearly DOES need a nap; throwing herself all over the place, yelling, screaming...it was lovely. She eventually crashed out and woke up the happy version of herself, proudly walking into the living room saying, "I took a good nap, I feel better now!". Never a dull moment with this one!

Santa Swing
Lincoln got to try out his swing today! Santa brought it for him and really, really liked it! He's been on the round platform swing but this was his first "real" swing experience. He was so relaxed and just looked around as calm as could be while Nora fetched her stool and pushed and pushed him. He was so calm in fact...that this happened. He slept snuggled in for at least a half hour. Looks like we'll have to add some extra hooks so our swing loving kids can swing side by side.

Story Seat
On an almost nightly basis, Lincoln joins us in Nora's room for story time. While we get her ready for bed he assumes his position in the reading chair to take in the spectacle that is bedtime. At first, Nora was not cool with this arrangement, but has since warmed up to the cuteness of Lincoln in her chair and he's warmed up to it too! Tonight he was all smiles! There was some catching up on sleep that took place this morning, we had our little Christmas with Jessica this afternoon while simultaniously packing up Christmas (yes I'm still working on it) and this evening we made a quick and not so successful stop at Ikea and went out to dinner at CPK. A pretty well rounded weekend day.
