Friday finally got here! Phew! It has been one heck of a week this week! We spent today hanging out getting ready for our visitors to arrive!! Nora made a sign to welcome AuntKristinUncleMartyKeatonandBexley (that's how she says it) who arrived a little after 9 tonight. We passed the time while we waited for Kyle to get home withe Columbus Majewskis by making nachos and having a living room dance party. After such ling week it felt great to dance it out with my girl! As was expected, the Keaton/Nora reunion was a happy one and bedtime was late and chaotic...heres hoping we can get back on track the wheels don't fall off our fun weekend!

Big congrats to my parents for finally pulling the trigger and now at long last, a trailer after a lot of years of waiting & wanting a boat!! May there be smooth waters, sunny days and lots of fish on the lines!! Excited to take 'er or 'im...? (still waiting on a name...) out for a spin this summer!!

The Before
This was before it all went to hell - pardon my language. We had what started off as a lovely Target trip that turned really ugly really fast. Fast forward to later this afternoon - after all the drama - and Kyle snuck out of work early, busted Nora out of house arrest to go to swimming lessons and at long last meet the cast of characters that I always talk about and see Nora's swimming progress. It's been a long week - hump day is behind us and we're hopefully cruising into the weekend from here...fingers' crossed for an easy day tomorrow because today was rough!!

Catch a Fish
One of these days I promise I'll get a picture of him actually in the water! Today while Nora was in her swimming lesson I took Lincoln for a dip in the pool. He's a swimmer folks! Floated on his own, completely relaxed and went under a bunch of times - smiles on his face almost the whole time. Meanwhile, Nora made big strides (strokes?) in her lesson and came over to join us at the end to show us her swimming/flipping on to her back skills. Now that I'm getting more confident with Lincoln in the water I can try to bring the camera next time.

Apples Fall
Nora decided this afternoon that she wanted to go for a run with me this evening, so we geared up and off we went. She wanted to take a couple walk breaks and her attention span isn't quite up to the task of running all the time, buuut, she did well overall - made it down the hill, up the hill all with a smile on her face and her hand in mine. We made it to the paved trail and we ran past another runner who praised Nora for how well she was doing. Nora was beaming with pride, and then promptly wiped out and scraped her knee (that was almost heeled from the last time she tripped and fell). I sympathized with how much her knee must have hurt, helped her get up and finish running home, and as much as I know how bad it hurts, I must admit that I did enjoy the snuggles I got as a result!

Post Project
Yay for impromptu progress! Kyle power washed the pole light pole and took down the old address sign while we were in Ohio in March. While I had narrowed in on a vision there wasn't a timeline in place for fixing up the pole. Fast forward to this past week...after picking up some exterior paint at the paint store I freshened it up a bit on Monday, picked up some new address numbers for it and then today on our family trip to Lowes - nice little Sunday! - we picked up a new lantern for the top, a hanging basket and some flowers. The thing is - I've developed an attachment to various light fixtures in this house and have enjoyed refurbishing some, re-using/repurposing others and the pole light was one I just couldn't cast aside. So was born a full afternoon's/evening's project of dismantling, cleaning (what a difference that made!), ORBing and reassembling the old lantern. Nora helped me plant the flowers and boom! A freshened up pole & light, shining bright and topped off with a shiny gold eagle and summer springy flowers! Look out! I'm inspired to play some musical lights on the front of the house!
A Touch of Sculpture Culture
We had an adventure day today with my (and Nora's) friend Debbie. We met up this morning at the Polasek museum and sculpture gardens here in Winter Park. We went to check out the tactile exhibit - sculptures, paintings and other works of art that were allowed to be and made to be touched - perfect for Nora! Not only do they have the art exhibit but the garden AKA backyard is awesome! It is on one of the lakes, has lots of flowers, tons of lovely trees, a huge grassy yard and a sign that says "please walk on the grass"!! What more could a kid who loves to run around want - oh, I know! A trip to the candy store...we did that too! After taking advantage of the gorgeous morning we headed home for a relaxing rest of the day! I love spring weekends!
