They Made It!

This is the face of a happy kiddo on her way to the soccer game with her daddy! It was a close call but a total team effort got them to the train station on time! They squeezed in some food and with a looong line for the busses Nora got to try out a new type of transportation to make it to the game by kick off. While I'm not typically a fan of the idea of some poor soul lugging people around on a cart behind their bike, for Nora it's nothing new, so clearly she enjoyed her ride. We had a pretty uneventful day around here, allowing for some snapshot spillover from last night. Kyle took Nora to Yoga and they spent the morning out and about together while Lincoln and I played at home.

How to Text Your Dad

This is Nora's photo guide to texting your dad about your upcoming date to the soccer game. 1) Decide on appropriate opening emoji 2) Smirk about the witty random emoji you tossed in for flavor 3) Ask a quick question about how to switch from text back to emojis 4) Take a moment to day dream about how soon your dad will rush home after receiving your text that clearly describes to him how excited you are 5) Stare at phone in confusion as to why he has not yet texted you back.

They Play

Happened upon this adorableness in Lincoln's room this morning. He's coming into his own more every day and he and Nora have started to love playing together. There are always lots of giggles and as of today, Lincoln's rolling can get him anywhere he wants to go and pretty much anything he'd like to get to. Nora told us her favorite thing to do with Lincoln is give him raspberries and it's pretty clear that Lincoln's favorite thing to do with Nora is pull her hair! I'm really excited to see what else these two have in store! Today wasn't all about inside play though - it was beautiful here and the kiddos were on opposite nap schedules so I had solo time with each of them, much of which was spent in the backyard, reading, playing and for Nora - picking and eating her green beans fresh out of her garden bin! (The squirrels have taken care of the lettuce...)

We're Halfway There!

6 Months! What!? Whelp - here we are! Halfway through the first year. Lincoln is a lot of fun. He LOVES to hangout, super social and will talk your ear off. He has become a bit of a morning baby (not really my speed - we might have to work on his 6am enthusiasm) but otherwise still loves his sleep, his sister, is loving Cort a lot more these days (I'm sure much to Cort's chagrin), is always busy and I swear he has go-go-gadget arms because nothing is out of reach for him and he can barely move yet! He is interested in everything and a mouthing machine. He will focus on and play with items that peak his interest for a long time. He's only rolled over once but is a master of sitting up, reaching and still loves to stand. It can't go without mentioning that this kiddo loves to eat, working his way through all the deliciousness this world has to offer and hasn't found anything he doesn't like. He knows when it's his dinner time and makes it known when his food is running late. All and all a happy happy happy kid who is a great communicator (even without words) and soooo very patient with us and his sister. Hard to believe how much he's grown in 6 short months and how more is coming in the next 6, but I can't wait to enjoy it all!!

Sick Day

Phew, today was a rough one. The Hilton Head stomach bug reared it's ugly head in our house again - todays' victim - ME! It's been a miserable day but thankfully Lincoln was relatively cheerful for most of the day and Nora was wonderful. She got to watch a lot more TV than usual while I tried to keep my eyes open, but she was super sweet and did her best to be low maintenance despite super short "naps" from both kiddos. I think it helped that she remembered how bad she felt just a week ago. So far everyone that has had this bug has kicked in 24 hours - fingers crossed I'm the same but as of now, I don't know how I'll feel better by morning...UHG! This mom thing gets real when you're sick - no sick days!

Felt Like It

Rather than accomplish anything of any major consequence around the house today I took on a different project during nap time. Nora helped me finish up a mixable, matchable road to drive cars on and then we made a weather board to hang up in the playroom so she can change the weather each day. We thought there were swimming lessons today, buuut, we got there and while her class was there, the teacher wasn't...apparently they expect you to like sign up or something before the send a teacher - having been there for 12 weeks doesn't count. Haha! So, I took both kids swimming (Lincoln in a life jacket, by rule and Nora on her own) - which was an experience to say the least!

New Neighbor

We had a fun day today. Started off by heading the Maitland Farmers' Market to get a new tree! As part of an Arbor Day celebration all residents could get a tree - we picked out a Live Oak that is going to be planted in yard to grow and grow and hopefully fill the hole left by one of the many mature "junk" trees we're going to need to clear out of our yard. After we got home and did some hanging out outside, Nora got to meet our new four legged neighbor, Maisy. Hard to believe the weekend is over already!
