Yesterday while attempting to get some work done in the living room I thought it might be fun to fire up the ball pit again. Lincoln was in the pack 'n play and I poured a basket of the ball pit balls in...not the best move on my part! For the next half hour, any time he heard Nora moving around in them he cried at the sound they made. We worked on desensitizing him to it and after a lot of getting closer, Nora watching, feet dipping, praise and playing by today we were here. He sat in the balls happily playing on his own until things got... a little hectic, then he made it clear he'd had enough. Work in progress on this one - just like the living room I suppose! I have Hank's birthday project underway and am hoping I can finish it up this week! Fingers' crossed!

The Test
Nora Nora was feeling up to the yellow band challenge today at the pool, so like the fearless little fish she is, after a little practice with us in the smaller pool, she asked the guard if she could be tested and hopped in the big pool and to show her stuff. The requirements for a green band (allowed to swim completely on your own): Tread water for 10 seconds, swim half the pool on your stomach, roll over and float for 10 seconds, swim back to the other end on her back. She was shooting for a yellow - which will allow her to play in the kid pool and water up to her chest on her own (and allow me to have both kids at the pool at the same time without one being in a life jacket!) so she pretty much just needed to do the green test, but not quite at a green level. She's been working hard and I'm happy to report, she achieved her goal! She was excited and proud but also took it all in stride. My favorite part was when she was in the kids pool, looked around and realized we were out of the water and had a very quick but very noticeable flash of proud excitement. Baby girl is growing up!!

Swing a Ling
We're swinging into the weekend. Nora did some early morning, golden hour porch swinging this morning while I played with some settings on the camera. The pictures weren't super great but hopefully with some more practice and as I get used to the new set up a little more it'll help catching these kiddos in action. Not sure what our weekend plans are yet but hope yours is a good one!

Making Her Mark
Swimming lessons are back up and running and this week is the week of giving at the Y. One of their fundraisers was to add a handprint to one of the walls. Nora wasn't so sure about the paint on her hand thing, but when Elizabeth jumped at the chance Nora thought it over and decided to give it a try. Can you tell which hand was Nora's not-so-sure handprint and which is Elizabeth's clearly-experienced-in-painting-handprint-art print? After they made their mark on the wall of the pool area the girls headed out...Yay for little friends!
Lincoln's appointment went smoothly this morning - he's right on track and still growing growing, 19lbs 2oz (77%), 26.75in (51%). Vaccines weren't a problem.

Memory Monday
I ordered a bunch of prints that finally arrived today so during nap time I was going through old pictures, old frames to change up and all that jazz and came across this gem. This here is a pictures of summertime happiness, relaxation and skin damage naivaté. Good times.
In other news - I had a memory/organizational lapse this morning - convinced that Lincoln's doctor's appointment was Tuesday morning I was just a tad bit surprised when the reminder that it was THIS morning popped up on my phone. ARGH! Dr. Britton didn't have any open appointments for a long time but they were nice enough to fit us in with another doctor tomorrow morning so we'll stay on track. So much for that memory of mine!
Happy Birthday Marty!

Mothers' Day
Happy Mothers' Day!!
It was for me! I got to sleep in a bit and woke up with a smiley Nora staring at me from Kyle's side of the bed, ready to start the day! I got to relax and spend some time outside while Kyle (and Nora) washed and cleaned out my car - no small task, as it hasn't been washed since the day before Lincoln's arrival and well, who knows when it was cleaned out last. Kyle and Nora went to the pool at the Y for a quick swim - Lincoln's nap went just long enough that we didn't get to meet up with them. Some special cards and a tasty dinner - all and all a lovely and much appreciated day! I hope everyone else had a happy Mothers' day too! Extra hugs for those missing their moms, those who are meant to be mommies waiting and waiting and anyone else for whom today is a bit of a tough day!
