It's in the Bag

I'm pretty sure, in Nora's eyes, this is her greatest nap-time achievement to-date. It isn't rare for me to happen upon ziplock bags of all sizes full of random collections and things, everywhere around the house - she's lifted a huge stockpile of them! But with this specific bag full of yellow liquid, it took me a second to figure out what exactly I was looking at when I first caught a glimpse of it behind her curtains. Then it clicked, and well, what you're guessing - you're right. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't stop laughing long enough to discipline her and when I took this picture she said "MOMMY NO!!!" I figured she was suddenly embarrassed and momentarily felt guilty... "take a video!!" nope, pure pride! So, I implore you...comment away - fold, see or raise me cause after this week - and this find, I would love some other stories from the trenches! Can't make this stuff up people, I'm holding on for dear life!!

Just to put it out there - I realize things stay on the internet forever and I did not post this in order to embarrass or shame my kiddo in anyway, I'm simply sharing because it's a funny story. AND, had she any embarrassment I [probably] wouldn't have centered the post around it. That said...this is a pretty accurate depiction of life around here these days and one of those stories I'll always have!

Assistant

This morning we took Cort to the vet for his annual check-up and vaccines. Rather than taking him to Dr. Andy this year we took him the vet where Jessica works as a tech. It was her day off so she came over and helped me get the crew to, in and out of the office without drama. Nora was in heaven, getting to listen to his heart, help with all of his tests, she also tried to give him an oral vaccine but had a hard time catching him so Jessica helped her. Cort is healthy, happy and protected for getting sick for another year (or three), just a little lumpy - but that isn't anything we didn't already know! Check that box on the list of things to do before our big summer trip!

So Silly

I was playing with Lincoln in his room today and left for a second. When I came back, rolly polly olly here had gone "missing". I got down on the floor and said, "Lincoln! Lincoln where are you!?" A little shuffling, squirming and...
Haha! How can you not love this little guy!?

Oat and A Boat??

Hehe! Well, conference finished up and closed out with a half day consisting of 3 sessions this morning, so it was home to hang with the family this afternoon. After some lounging and activity related debate we decided to head to Rollins this evening. It gave us a chance to hang out outside, Nora got to run, wander, climb, explore and run up and down stairs to her heart's content and I was able to play pictures a little bit...unfortunately, despite the amazing golden hour light I didn't get a lot of stellar shots - but I must say I'm a fan of this one that Kyle snapped while we hung out by the lake on the cute & clever little boat benches. It was a good way to close out what was a bit of an odd weekend. The week begins anew tomorrow...hoping to go into it with some fresh energy!

Swan & Dolphin

Considering we only live 30-45 minutes away from Disney, we really don't head "down there" all that often. So, I must say, it is kind of fun to hang out around the resorts and stuff every once in a while - it really does feel like you're on vacation. After a night of not much sleep at all thanks to a potentially teething and very fussy, not so sleepy Lincoln, I had conference sessions this morning. I made it just in time for what ended up being a really handy helpful opening session about how to talk to kids so they'll listen and maybe even cooperate (a much needed refresher with our current state of 3 year old). I followed that up with a couple other good sessions. There wasn't much going on this afternoon other than tours of the 3 children's hospitals (all of which I'm pretty familiar with) so I headed home to hang out with Kyle & the kiddos. Nora and Kyle are at the soccer game tonight - as usual, she was incredibly excited for her outing to watch the Lions. I really think game nights with her dad are one of her favorite things. I love that they have their special time together!

Child Life Conference

Well, it hasn't been anywhere near a gold medal blogging week around here, that's for sure. Low on pictures and late on posting...BUT, here we are! Today I was up, at 'em and out early to make it down to Disney for the 2016 National Child Life Conference...right here in Orlando - convenient, I know. Kyle was kind enough to spend the day at home with the kiddos so I could go get my learn on and catch up with lots of fellow child lifers. This is a picture from the opening session and reveal of the new logo and governing body name/rebranding - it was complete with balloon drop! So, even though I'm not working right now, it was great to soak up new knowledge, catch up with old friends and just spend the day being a "professional". I'll be going to conference sessions for the rest of the weekend too. Woohoo!!

Sew Surprising!

So we shook the stomach bug but now it's a cold that's crushing us...well, by us I mean me for now. BUT, that said I don't have pictures from yesterday - I can paint you one of Nora's MASSIVE meltdown on the pool deck at the Y after swimming lessons - it was truly impressive, and quite loud. Despite my best attempts to patiently aknowledge her frustrations and talk her down using my typical toolbox I wasn't feeling up to the challenge or willing to waste a ton of time playing games - I eventually scooped her up and carried her out soaking wet and screaming. In the process I also managed not to say anything snarky to the woman who commented "Aww poor little thing" as I was walking out with a screaming, wet, wriggling 3 year old in one arm and a carseat carrier containing a not so light infant in the other.

ANYWHO! In more happy and exciting news, LOOK WHAT I FINISHED TODAY! Well, take a little peek anyway, can't be ruining birthday surprises! Despite yesterday's fiasco, we did make it to "Aunt Joanne's Fabrics" after swimming and got the last of what I needed for Hank's yay-you-were-born-except-this-is-a-year-late-so-happy-birthday project! With a couple of slightly under the weather kiddos there were decent naps today and with Kyle in Indiana for work today and not due home until super late tonight I got them both in bed at a reasonable time, leaving me the opportunity to finish this puppy up! Can't wait to give it to Hank! Better late than never right?
