School Days!!

The first day of school has officially arrived!! There were no tears, no nerves, nothing but excitement to carpool with Kyle and excitement to get some stuff done around the house in the morning on my end. Perhaps the magnitude of this event is a little lost on me, but we are both very ready for this change...my only qualm in that Nora doesn't like to tell me anything about her day, so I'm kind of in the dark on what actually goes on at school. All I know is that it was a good day and "the pickle book" was read during group time. This afternoon it was business as usual and this evening Kyle and I debated what to work on in the living room after the kids went to bed. At 9pm we decided upon an impromptu electrical project. Doesn't everyone whip out the saws all and router at 11pm?? A quick run to Home Depot a few holes, some wire running and a lot of noise (seriously we have no idea how both kids slept through the shop-vac/router combo!) and 2ish hours later...
we now have an outlet in the built-ins for the TV! Woohoo! Sure it's now tomorrow and we're up way too late but it was a great day from start to finish!

Sock Celebration

How do you close out a weekend of floor installation and celebrate a new living room floor? Silly sock sliding party before bed!! DUH!!! We made quite a bit of progress today and the living room is a step closer to completion! We're closing out the weekend feeling pretty good about things. There's more to do but we made a lot of progress. In other news, big day for Nora tomorrow - first day of preschool!!

Little Helper

Carpet up, floors going down...Lincoln is determined to be a part of the process and can't wait for this room to be his for the exploring. There's not much in the way of containing him so we've just had to keep the work zone as safe as possible for our little scooter. He's loving all the action and getting to be in the middle of it. While the echoes of kid talk and squeals can be a bit of sensory overload at times they're for the most part letting us get some work done! I will say it's a little weird watching people compete and win gold medals and be like, yeah, well we've laid half a room's worth of floors today!! Progress is progress is progress!

Friday

Took a little bit of a break today and didn't get nearly as much done as I have been. I dabbled in a bit of painting here and there but otherwise let everything go - and believe me, if you walked into our house you'd be like "Whoa! They've really let this place go!" but we'll get caught up sooner or later. Busy weekend on tap with floors on the docket!

Crash!

The wall has officially been hit folks! And yet, I'm still up at all hours watching late night Olympic coverage & determined to get this blog monkey off my back! Alright, so today...it was a loooong day (and Kyle came home on time early for him today.) What happened to nap time - seriously!? Anyway, this morning was open house at Nora's school where we found out which class she'd be in starting Monday and what teachers she'll have for potentially the next 3 years. We're all a little surprised with her placement but we'll see how it goes I suppose. Not quite sure what our plan of action is on that front. The rest of the day was kind of bear, I've pushed a little too much in the past couple weeks and today it caught up with me...patience shot, mood crappy and kids who wanted/needed A LOT of attention...this whole Lincoln moving thing paired with Nora whining thing is a lot to handle! Did I mention yesterday's playroom painting/roller eating fiasco - yeah he's quick, sneaky and that happened - all is well thank heavens! So anyway, the picture explanation...it appears we have a new popcorn snack participant and fan. Friday tomorrow, here's hoping it's a smooth one and I can use the weekend to get caught up a little. For those trying to access Picasa pics there's been a big change over. I can only give access to albums individually on Google Photos. For now - Here's our whole trip North and 4th of July weekend for those who are interested. They aren't captioned yet but they're up - minus the 1000 or so files that were lost in the mysterious file disappearance of 2016. Water under the bridge I suppose! Alright, with only a couple days to add once the pics come in from Kyle's phone, I'm calling myself caught up and going to bed!

Doctor Day!

Lincoln's 9 month appointment was this morning. The stats are in - he's 21lbs 6oz(77%) and 29 inches long(74%). Clean bill of health, only one vaccine - Nora and I teamed up...I did the comfort hold and she had the light spinner ready for him as soon as it was over. We were a great tag team. He needed a finger prick for iron levels today too and didn't even flinch for that. After the appointment we finally made it to the grocery store to restock the fridge. It was a smooth trip until I dumped the eggs on the floor at the checkout...uhg! Not going to lie as the week wears on I'm starting to run out of a little steam. We'll see if I can finish the week (and the living room) strong!

Wet Again

The work continues in the living room and so does the progress, BUT that doesn't mean there isn't time for play - Nora makes sure I take breaks to give her the attention she needs...even if it isn't something I'm really in the mood for. BUT, who can say no to a dance party in the pouring rain!? We're in a less thundery but still wet afternoon weather pattern and we've been taking advantage of the falling drops. Today I got in on the fun while Lincoln was taking his nap. He even hung out in a later shower. Later in the afternoon we had a great and successful trip to Lowes to pick up a few things - no grocery store yet but hopefully I squeeze that in tomorrow. I've been pulling double duty working in the living room by day and updating picture stuff by night. It's all going to be done...someday!
