Less Than a Little Luck

We're on the move! This evening (3 hours later than originally scheduled and after bedtime!) we took to the friendly skies and flew to Ohio for the weekend. For anyone who has been here for a while you know that St. Patrick's Day in Ohio isn't something we miss, this year included - although it was a last minute decision to go. Nora had the day off today and I spent a lot of the day doing laundry and trying to get packed - although by the time Kyle got home I didn't feel like I had accomplished very much at all. All that matters is that we made our flight and after a bit of an airborne wrestling match made it to Columbus in one piece. We then drove to Cleveland and now we're really tired with a busy day ahead tomorrow. It's going to be a long short weekend!

Poolside Hugs

Swimming lessons are in full swing and Lincoln and Otto do what they can to keep themselves occupied while Nora's in the pool. Now that she's in big kid class it lasts 45 minutes rather than an a half hour - that extra 15 minutes makes a big difference in keeping the boys contained and entertained. Most days they do great but sometimes they get a little antsy - heck even I was antsy today. We were late to begin with and Nora was a hot mess in the water - lollygagging is an understatement! Anyway, today while Otto was on the move Lincoln was close behind dispensing "hugs" which often resemble headlocks...I guess it's just a brother thing.

Wee Bit of Irish

I'm pretty sure Lincoln is hooked on story time. I'm not sure what he likes better, the actual reading of stories and singing of songs, or hanging out in the kids area after. Today's theme was St. Patrick's day complete with St. Patrick's Day books, songs and a puppet show. After story time it was off to pick Nora up from school and home for lunch and playing.

AH-HA!

I knew it was around here SOMEWHERE and I've torn the house apart looking for this lens! Today while I was washing floors I moved the curtains and lo and behold...YAY! This is my kid hunting lens and I get some of my best play pictures with it because I can be all the way across the yard, completely out of their way and not intruding but still get tight shots of them. Anyway...floors are washed, Kyle and I got inspired late last night and tackled some of our shoe moulding that has been laying on the floor for like 2 years now secured and put some baseboards back in in the kitchen. We're going on 4 years in this house and there are still sooo many things to do and finish! Someday! Nora had swim this afternoon...other than that...I'm tired, heading to bed earlier tonight!

Baking & Taking

This time change always messes with me. I LOVE summertime time but the initial switch has me up until all hours of the night. One benefit of my late night last night was that I set up all the banana bread ingredients for Nora to mix up some bread before school today. She had wanted to make bread to take to our neighbors yesterday and I kept putting it off, so I made sure it got done today. The loaf looked good but was a little dark (and Nora really wanted to make another loaf so we could have some too) so this afternoon we mixed up another. As is usually the case, Nora had a very clear plan in her head of how everything was going to go. While she impatiently waiting for the bread to cool enough to wrap, she made a pearler bead heart to decorate the package. The bread was finally wrapped in parchment complete with bakers' twine and completed with the heart of course, then she and Lincoln went by themselves (very important part of this plan because "I need to start practicing so I can be ready to walk to school"... in first grade!) across the street to drop it off. When I asked what her plan was going to be when she got there, she said I'm going to take it in and put it on the table and tell them that it's fresh banana bread that we made for them. I tried to prepare her for alternative versions...buuuut in true Nora fashion, it all went completely as she'd envisioned. I even got a text after volunteering tonight saying that they thought the bread was delicious, as you can imagine that made Nora pretty happy. To top off her awesome day, while they were out for a walk with Kyle she got to knock on our other neighbor's door to find out if they could come out and play...not only did they play at their house, Nora got to have a friend over here too! She was a pretty proud and happy camper tonight!

Byes, Brushes & Bikes

After a fun couple days (and some newly fattened poles) we had to say goodbye to Greg this morning so he could get home to ya know, play with his own kids and maybe do some projects at his own house! After Kyle got back from his airport run I spent a lot of time painting and pretty much finished up the back of the house (minus the escape hatch door and thanks to a very devoted guard bee, still have one little trim section) and I did finish the final coat on the trim at bedroom end of the house. After I finished painting for the day Kyle and Nora went for a bike ride. Lincoln was so sad the he wasn't invited...he told me so - "mommy, I so so sad" said through tears. He made sure to tell them when they got back too. Heading into a short week before spring break '18!

Fat & Happy

The day started with sunshine and pancakes. I did a little bit of high painting (I like to save the tip-top of the roof peak for when there's another adult or two home, just in case!) and after a lengthy trip to Lowes, Greg and Kyle set to work on a project that I've been waiting for since we moved in. Thanks to their teamwork I'm now the proud owner of freshly fattened poles out front!!! This project has made me so excited to finish up our exterior facelift!! I have a lot of caulking to do now, but I'm up for the challenge...they're everything I hoped for!
