Always Something

It's been a bit of an Ottos show on here the last few days, and today is no different. Busy boy put all the pieces together today...climbing something new, with no pants on! Temps have been a bit cooler but that's no deterrent to hiding in a room and somehow getting out of his pants and tearing off his diaper. All I can do is roll my eyes and shake my head and hope hope hope that it continues to be an at home thing and not an out in public thing! It's been a trying week to say the least, we're still trying to get Christmas put away and the house is a disaster but we'll get there someday!! At least the days aren't boring!?

Gathering

The boys and I went to Target after we dropped Nora off at school this morning. By end of our trip Otto was pretty antzy so I made the mistake decision to let Otto walk. He got down and immediately touched all the things and then made a bee-line to his favorite, and very accessible fruit - little oranges. "BALLS!" He grabbed a bag and headed off to pay! He carried his oranges the whole way across the store (one rest stop to reposition) and then after they were rung up he got them back and carried them proudly out to the car. Not before stopping to marvel at the "BALLS!" outside on the sidewalk. I'm pretty sure after today I may never get him back in a cart ever again!

Wanna Be Big Kid

Otto has taken a very sudden and very serious interest in using the potty the last couple days. He's had some success but I'm pretty sure he's mainly in it for the lack of pants. This wasn't exactly in my plans for the week and there have been some accidents but we'll give it a try while there's interest. I have a hunch he's just dabbling a bit and we'll eventually end up revisiting in a bit.

Favorite Things!

Well, it's been a few weeks and I think the results are starting to come in on favorite Christmas presents...at least in Otto's case. For him the clear front runners are Nora & Lincoln's golf clubs - especially the drivers (with covers removed of course) AND Nora's bunkbed which let's be real is just a giant climbing gym for Otto. So there ya have it...great presents from his perspective, stress inducing bone and house breakers from mine! I think he may just need to wear a helmet at all times.

BOATS!

This right here is one happy guy! We celebrated our 17th "real anniversary" as I like to call it, by going to boating class in Daytona today. That's right, the kids were with a babysitter and we hit the water with Captain Kyle - not this Kyle, the one who's actually an experienced and credentialed Captain. It was a little chilly but overall a great morning out on the water and we're excited to do more boating soon! After we got home we hung out with the kids and got a few things done around the house. Not a bad start to the weekend!

While One is Busy...

I spent a little time today setting up some stuff for Lincoln to do. As soon as I finished printing things out he was so excited to have some activities that not only had letters and numbers but also used the light pad. He worked really hard and did well (making sure I was paying close attention the whole time) and kept busy for over a half hour. I was impressed! You're probably wondering - a half hour, mid-morning...what was Otto doing?
No worries he was close by grabbing at letters then eventually tearing up a piece of styrofoam into itsy bitsy little pieces and throwing them on the floor with his snuck out of the crib nuk. He also dumped the shoe basket by the front door and played in the bathroom sink getting soaking wet. He never stops! After school we all swam at the Y while Lincoln had lessons. That proved to be a bit much, we'll see how often we make that a thing. After we got the kids to bed Kyle and I capped off the night by straightening up a bit & planning for tomorrow while a fire snapped, crackled and popped in the fireplace! A cozy fire really does make chores a lot more enjoyable!

Time Flies By In the Yellow and Green

This guy...he doesn't like to be far from his mama that's for sure...so when he saw me outside soaking up some vitamin D this morning he wasn't far behind with his blanket and puppy so he could snuggle in the sun too. I was surprised how ok he was with me taking his picture though, although he wanted to see it right away. OH, and for those of you not aware of Lincoln's favorite song for the last few months - it's "Shotgun" by George Ezra. He knows pretty much all the words, sings it (enthusiastically) constantly and requests it EVERY TIME we're in the car (I can't tell you how many times it was played on our Christmas road trip!) This morning I got a text from my dad that said "turn on the Today show". I happened to be standing right next to the TV so I did...
This is what a Lincoln who is hearing his favorite song sung live by the artist on TV looks like. (I wasn't joking about the laundry bomb...anyone want to fold??) He was so excited and so mesmerized, and then of course once it was over he asked to watch it again. We had to wait but once they posted the video we watched it about 12 more times this afternoon. He also had plenty of questions about why certain parts were different than what he's used to hearing. So funny! Hey guess what everyone! We're over the hump and rounding into the weekend!!! Hang in there, just a couple days left!
