Buried Treasure!

Check out what the doggers dug up out in the yard today! I came home and found it sitting right on the bricks outside the lenai! Now I have to track down who it belongs to. There are initials on the inside: we think they are JAW...with the size of the ring, the initials on the inside, the high school and the graduation year, a quick trip to Lyman High's 1968 year book website leads me to believe the person I'm looking for was once named...Joyce Annette Wilson. Now to find her and give back her ring!!

Memorial Day

Having to work today was zero-fun sir, buuut our Monday group made the best of it! After coming home and realizing that we had NO food in the house I was sooo grateful to the grocery store employees for also working on the holiday because I was able to go get some food and salvage a little Memorial Day. Burgers and corn on the cob...yum!! I can't just thank the grocery store people...there wouldn't be a memorial day without all the people who fought for what all we have! (Even stats homework - uhg!)

Last Hoorah!

Back: Rhyna, Joelle Front: Silvia, me, Charlotte, Jessica, Amanda & Sam

We went out bowling with some of the girls from work tonight to say goodbye to my friend/co-worker Jessica. Her last day is tomorrow and she's moving out to Washington state to be by the whales. It was a lot of fun. I'll definitely miss all the girls I work with when I finish up next week!

All Else Fails...

Today was marked on our calendars as "House Cleaning Day" - that didn't happen. What did happen was a lot of sleeping in the morning (perhaps even a little snoozing into the early afternoon) the discovery that there is NO food in the house, Chipotle for lunch then homework of some sort for the rest of the day/night. There was a brief intermission for a Jeremiahs' run (DELICIOUS!). So yeah, we still have a very messy house! Let's hope "Yard Day" goes a little better!

Take Me in to the Ballgame?

We went to Tampa tonight to watch the Indians take on the Rays. For those that don't know, Tampa has an indoor stadium. It was a gorgeous 80 degree night, with a light breeze and we sat in a shopping mall to watch baseball being played on fake grass.
To top it all off...

Yep, the Tribe got crushed! Being that I'm not a huge fan to begin with (anymore at least) they didn't win me back with their lack luster performance after driving two hours to get there last night. Maybe they'll win me over at the Jake sometime this summer.

Potpourri!

Today's post is long and will have two chapters:

Chapter 1: Today

Today was busy! High on things to do, low on internet connectivity. Anyway, I picked up my car from getting the oil "changed", volunteered at APH in the morning, came home and made an AWESOME Star Wars themed sign (with the help of the internet on my phone and my ingenius ability to use bluetooth and other technology), went to the airport to greet a really nice Wish Family (who almost didn't get all of their bags -Yay for WISH MIRACLES!). Then I stopped in at work for a few minutes, came home did a few things around the house until Kyle got home from his presentation. Phew!

Chapter 2: Who Says You Can't Go Home?

I dont' know when it was, but at some point a while ago, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that there was some news coming. I know for a fact that it has started to trickle out to the masses so I'll take this opportunity to confirm that I am moving back to Ohio for the summer. That sounds pretty abrupt, so let me elaborate!!

What started off as a joke developed into somewhat of a stars aligning situation. Between the seemingly countless wedding season trips (2 of which I would have driven on my own), Kyle's crazy crazy work/school schedule, gimpy grandmas (no offense ladies) and my less than prestigious job, oh, and overall "home" sickness; the topic of me "summering" in Ohio made it on to the conversation docket. Well after talking it over, a lot, and looking into some things, it turns out that good 'ole Bay Rec could use an extra hand with a project they're working on and can give me full-time hours for the summer months, Grandmas (and the mom, dad, aunts/uncles who have been helping them) could use an extra person on their teams, wedding trips will be made easier by 1) My not having to battle for time off from my part time job 2) Having a car handy in Ohio 3) Not having to board dogs 4) Only having to pay Kyle to fly back and forth AND, as it turns out, Kyle will be up just about every 2 weeks for one thing or another! So, there you have it. On June 9th we will be packing up the dog(s) and my summer clothes and such and I'll be heading to Ohio for the summer. Now that it's on the blog, it's official!

I know my mom and dad are beside themselves at the prospect of their 28 year old, married daughter (and her dog(s)), AND her 22 year old college graduate baby brother moving back in to their empty nest for 2.5 months - but, being the optimist that I am, I think it'll be a great summer! Plus Beau hunts, so we should have a great garden crop this year!! :o)

First Time in a Long Time!

I don't do pop, and I DON'T do caffeine! Kyle does, that's why we have it in the house. BUT, today was an exception to the rule. I had high hopes of getting a lot accomplished this morning. Unfortunately the migraine that decided to settle into my right eye/temple didn't get the memo! Usually 2 Aleve and a 20 minute dark nap gets me over the hump and I'm ok to continue on my day, but wow, this one wasn't going anywhere. So after my Aleve and my nap and then some it was time to consult with a professional - who else? My mommy! The decision was - since it didn't appear I was experiencing an aneurism, another Aleve and a healthy dose of caffeine should do the trick. So I cracked open my first Coke (to drink) since - eh...I was a Freshman in high school...(for those of you counting that's about 14 years) popped an Aleve and took a few swigs. I immediately felt my teeth melting, and then waited for magic to happen. What do you know. 15-20 minutes later...no more migraine. I'm going to tell myself it was the 3rd Aleve...
