**Special Day, Special Edition**

I'm willing to bet that a last day of school/work picture is waaaay more exciting to take than a first day of school/work picture!
So tonight we're going to do things a little differently. In preparation, I asked Susan to send me some pictures of her day and offered her a guest blogging spot, since today was her last, last day and all! Well, after all of the craziness I think she got a small taste of why there are some days when this blog is kind of a pain, but she was a trooper and held up her end of the deal. She passed along a few pictures and also included an e-mail summary that I'll use parts of in combination with some of my commentary to make up "her" post! Here we go!
"I had a great day today...well pretty much. We had field day this morning and I had problems with several of the boys. Those behaviors were really annoying today...but all the other stuff was great.
This morning the 4 retirees were given gifts...a rose plant and a bracelet. The staff had a potluck lunch...very delicious."
If I may interject...A stellar plan was devised to use the cute mini's in the family (Kate and Will, Will and Kate, whichever you prefer) to deliver a surprise retirement gift in the classroom just before dismissal this afternoon. After a bit of fire drill timing confusion things didn't go completely as planned but the overall mission was accomplished shortly after the bell rang. If you know Kyle and I you know punctuality isn't our strong point, so who are we to judge! Haha! Ok, back to Susan!
"Ken had organized a little get together (as I had asked for NO party) from 4:30-5:30 (that he told me about at 4:00). There were about 10 people here. Then I left about 6:15 to go to the country club for [a friend/fellow teacher's] surprise 60th birthday/retirement party. When her husband saw me, he handed me a bouquet of flowers since I was retiring also. Right now there are 4 "bouquets" of flowers in the kitchen.
Both boys called. Kate handed me a card at school and said we're going to the beach. My retirement gift from the boys/girls and Ken is a vacation at Sunset Beach, NC in August."

Retirement goodies and flower collection!
So there's a little run down of the day...I know speaking for Kyle and myself we think Susan is going to be awesome at retirement and couldn't be happier for her!!
Congratulations, you made it!! We can't wait for our family vacation at the beach. It will be the perfect way to help you relax and get ready NOT to go back to school!! :o)
